Management Accountant - Coulsdon, Surrey - £55,000 + Bonus + Excellent Benefits

Fast growing property development business is looking to appoint a Management Accountant to strengthen its finance team.

This opportunity would suit an ambitious ACCA or CIMA part-qualified accountant who is approaching qualification and wants to take on greater responsibility within a commercial, fast-paced environment.

Applications are welcomed from candidates currently working in industry or looking to make their first move from accountancy practice. Previous exposure to property, construction, real estate clients or another project-led sector would be particularly useful.

The Role

Working closely with senior members of the finance team, you will support the financial management of a portfolio of active property developments. The position combines management accounting, statutory reporting, compliance and commercial analysis, providing excellent exposure across the wider business.

  • Producing monthly management accounts, including profit and loss, balance sheet and cashflow reporting
  • Preparing commentary and variance analysis for senior management
  • Completing balance sheet reconciliations and posting month-end journals
  • Supporting budgeting, forecasting and short-term cashflow planning
  • Monitoring financial performance across individual development sites
  • Assisting with the preparation of year-end accounts and coordinating information for the external audit
  • Preparing VAT returns and dealing with VAT matters relating to property transactions
  • Supporting CIS reporting and associated compliance
  • Reviewing transactional finance work completed by the Accounts Assistant
  • Helping to maintain effective financial controls and accurate accounting records
  • Identifying opportunities to improve reporting and finance processes
  • Providing financial information and ad hoc analysis to operational and senior management teams

The Candidate

You will ideally have:

  • ACCA or CIMA part-qualified status, with qualification expected in the near future
  • Relevant management accounting, audit or financial reporting experience
  • Strong month-end accounting and balance sheet reconciliation skills
  • A good understanding of VAT
  • Exposure to CIS, property or construction accounting, although this is not essential
  • Advanced Excel skills and confidence working with financial data
  • A proactive and organised approach
  • The ability to manage deadlines and take responsibility for your own work
  • Strong communication skills and an interest in developing commercial experience
