Location: Selby Road, Leeds, LS15 4LG
Salary: £36,000–£42,000 per annum, depending on experience
Contract: Full-time, permanent
Reporting to: Finance Director
Working arrangement: This is primarily an office-based role at WorkWell's Leeds head office, where we believe regular in-person collaboration can add real value to the role, the team and the wider business. We recognise that flexibility is important and are open to an element of remote working by agreement, subject to business needs.

About the Role

We are looking for a capable, hands-on Management Accountant to join WorkWell's Finance team, reporting directly to the Finance Director.

This is a broad accounting role covering the full day-to-day finance cycle, from maintaining accurate ledgers and managing AP and AR through to month-end close, cash-flow forecasting and preparation of monthly management accounts.

The role is deliberately practical. We are looking for someone who is equally comfortable resolving a ledger discrepancy, reconciling an account, chasing an overdue customer balance, preparing a supplier payment run, posting month-end journals and producing useful financial information.

As WorkWell continues to grow, we also intend to simplify and automate more of our finance processes, including the appropriate use of AI. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to contribute to these improvements and use the capacity created to broaden their accounting, reporting and analytical responsibilities over time.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintaining accurate and well-controlled financial ledgers.
  • Processing and managing accounts payable and supplier payments.
  • Maintaining accounts receivable records and undertaking proactive credit control.
  • Performing bank, control account and balance-sheet reconciliations.
  • Preparing and posting month-end journals, accruals, prepayments, revenue-recognition adjustments and other close entries.
  • Performing the monthly financial close in line with the agreed timetable.
  • Preparing monthly management accounts for review with the Finance Director.
  • Producing supporting schedules and investigating significant variances.
  • Maintaining a rolling 90-day short-term cash-flow forecast.
  • Supporting the management of working capital through customer collections and supplier-payment planning.
  • Providing accurate financial information to support operational and commercial decision-making.
  • Supporting year-end accounts, external accountants/auditors and routine financial compliance.
  • Helping improve, document and automate finance processes.
  • As a serviced-office and flexible-workspace business, you will also develop an understanding of the financial performance of our locations, working with operational colleagues to understand income, expenditure, site performance and the factors driving movements in the numbers. Previous experience in the sector is helpful but not essential.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

About You

For this appointment, your ability to perform the role is more important than following a particular qualification or career route.

Professional accounting qualifications are not a prerequisite, and candidates who have developed strong practical accounting skills through experience will be considered on an equal basis.

We are particularly interested in candidates who can demonstrate practical experience across a number of the following areas:

  • Transactional accounting and ledger maintenance.
  • Accounts payable and supplier payments.
  • Accounts receivable and credit control.
  • Bank and balance-sheet reconciliations.
  • Month-end accounting adjustments.
  • Management accounts preparation.
  • Working confidently with accounting systems and financial data.
  • Excel within a finance environment.

Previous experience working or training within an accountancy practice would be desirable, but it is not mandatory. Experience gained within an SME, owner-managed business or small finance team where individuals have broad accounting responsibilities may also be particularly relevant.

The Person We Are Looking For

You will be someone who:

  • Enjoys being close to the underlying accounting and is comfortable moving between transactional work, reconciliations, credit control and management accounting.
  • Takes pride in accurate, well-maintained accounting records.
  • Understands double-entry bookkeeping and how transactions flow through to the financial statements.
  • Enjoys investigating discrepancies and getting to the root cause of problems.
  • Takes ownership of tasks and follows them through to completion.
  • Can work independently while knowing when to ask for guidance or escalate an issue.
  • Communicates clearly with customers, suppliers and colleagues.
  • Is commercially curious and wants to understand what is happening behind the numbers.
  • Is open to improving processes and exploring how automation and AI can make finance more efficient and effective.

Development

The immediate requirement is for a strong, hands-on accounting professional who is willing to remain close to the underlying transactions while taking increasing ownership of month-end and management accounting.

As WorkWell grows and its finance processes become more automated, there will be scope for the responsibilities of the role to broaden across financial control, reporting, forecasting, analysis and business support.

Development in this role means taking broader ownership and adding greater value, rather than simply moving away from the underlying numbers.

Applications for this role will close on Thursday 3rd September.

We are recruiting for this role directly and kindly ask recruitment agencies not to contact us regarding this vacancy.
