Management Accountant
Location: Central London
Salary: £54,000 - £56,000 + Excellent Benefits
Job Type: Permanent, Full-Time
The Opportunity
A highly regarded professional services firm is seeking a qualified Management Accountant to join its established finance team. The firm advises a diverse client base ranging from entrepreneurial businesses and private individuals through to charities, not-for-profit organisations, international groups, and owner-managed businesses. This position would suit a newly qualified ACA, ACCA, or CIMA accountant who has gained experience within a professional services environment such as accountancy practice, legal services, consulting, or a partnership structure. Working closely with senior finance leadership, you will provide meaningful financial insight, support strategic decision-making, and play a key role in the delivery of accurate management information across the business.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Management Accounts
- Prepare monthly management accounts, including accruals, prepayments, provisions, and month-end journals.
- Produce detailed variance analysis and insightful commentary on business performance.
- Prepare and maintain monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
- Assist with financial reporting for senior leadership and partners.
- Monitor and analyse overhead expenditure across designated cost centres.

Business Partnering
- Work closely with team leaders and budget holders to review financial performance.
- Build strong relationships across the business, providing support and financial guidance.
- Develop team-specific reporting to improve commercial decision-making.
- Deliver meaningful analysis and recommendations to support operational performance.
Budgeting & Forecasting
- Support the preparation of budgets and forecasts across multiple departments.
- Assist stakeholders throughout the budgeting process.
- Review forecast assumptions and analyse performance against budget.
- Support longer-term financial planning initiatives.
Financial Control & Compliance
- Assist in the preparation of year-end statutory accounts.
- Support the external audit process.
- Prepare VAT returns and other regulatory reporting requirements.
- Ensure strong financial controls and governance processes are maintained.
Systems & Process Improvement
- Identify opportunities to improve reporting efficiency and financial controls.
- Support finance transformation initiatives, automation projects, and AI-driven process improvements.
- Enhance management information and reporting capabilities across the finance function.

Team Development
- Provide guidance and support to junior members of the finance team.
- Promote best practice and continuous improvement across the department.
Candidate Requirements
- ACA, ACCA, or CIMA qualified.
- Experience gained within a professional services environment is highly desirable.
- Strong management accounting and reporting experience.
- Excellent Excel and data analysis skills.
- Strong commercial awareness and analytical ability.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to work effectively with senior stakeholders and non-finance teams.
- Proactive, inquisitive, and solutions-focused approach.
