Role Overview
A fast-growing brand is seeking a commercially minded Management Accountant to join its expanding finance team. This role offers the opportunity to take ownership of month-end processes, management reporting, and business partnering while managing and developing an Accounts Assistant. The successful candidate will play a key role in building a best-in-class finance function and driving financial insights to support senior leadership in decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the month-end close process, including reconciliations, accruals, prepayments, and journal entries.
- Produce monthly management accounts with commentary comparing actuals vs. forecast and prior year performance.
- Maintain the Fixed Asset Register to ensure accurate tracking of assets.
- Support budgeting processes, rolling forecasts, and cashflow forecasting to meet supplier obligations and operational needs.
- Collaborate with department heads to analyse performance metrics and provide commercial insights to senior leadership for strategic decision-making.
- Assist with quarterly VAT returns, year-end processes, and external audits.
- Strengthen financial controls across the business and review weekly payment runs for accuracy and compliance.
- Enhance processes within Xero and integrated tools to improve efficiency and reduce the month-end cycle time.

Qualifications
- Part-qualified accountant (ACCA/ACA/CIMA) with experience in management accounting within an SME environment.
- Previous experience in the fashion industry.
- Familiarity with multi-currency and multi-entity accounting.
- Experience reconciling supplier deposits/balances and e-commerce gateways such as Shopify, PayPal, or Clearpay.
- Strong Excel skills with the ability to manage competing deadlines effectively.

Desirable Skills & Experience
- Experience using Xero or similar accounting software.
- Knowledge of EU VAT regulations, overseas entities, or US Sales Tax compliance.
