Management Accountant (Opex & Capex)
FTC until 31st March 2028 - open to full time or reduced hours
Location – Flexible (Selby, Ipswich, Glasgow, Northampton)
Hybrid working – 2-3 days per week in your local office
Salary up to £50,000

Are you an accounting professional who enjoys bringing accuracy, insight and strong financial control to a fast-paced finance environment? This is an opportunity to play a key role in delivering timely financial transactions and reporting while supporting the monthly management accounting cycle.
About the Role
You'll support the delivery of accurate and timely financial transactions and reporting, including journal postings, accruals and prepayments. Working as part of the Finance team, you'll help maintain robust financial controls and ensure the management accounting process runs smoothly and accurately.
You'll work with stakeholders across Finance, including Business Unit Finance Directors, FP&A, the Group Financial Controller, Heads of Finance and budget holders. Through accurate reporting, strong governance and collaborative working, you'll help provide the reliable financial information the business needs.
You'll be responsible for:
- Preparing and posting journals accurately and on time, in line with financial policies and controls.
- Managing accruals and prepayments, ensuring they are complete and accurate as part of the monthly accounts process.
- Reviewing and signing off Business Approval Forms to support compliance with governance requirements.
- Ensuring costs are correctly coded to the appropriate cost centres and projects.
- Supporting the production of management accounts through reconciliations, variance analysis and clear commentary.

Who We’re Looking For
You'll be a part-qualified or fully qualified accountant, such as ACA, ACCA or CIMA, or bring equivalent practical experience. You'll have a strong understanding of double-entry bookkeeping and core accounting principles, along with hands-on experience of journals, accruals, prepayments and cost coding within a finance function.
You'll be confident using Microsoft Excel and familiar with ERP systems. Experience of Planful would be desirable. You'll also bring close attention to detail, the ability to work to tight deadlines and a collaborative communication style that helps you build effective relationships across the team.
