Management Accountant | Milton Keynes | £35,000 - £45,000

Robert Walters are delighted to be supporting a leading international manufacturing business with the recruitment of a Management Accountant to join their established finance team in Milton Keynes.

This is a broad and varied opportunity for a commercially minded finance professional to take ownership of key management accounting, month-end, working capital and sales ledger activities within a growing international business.

The Role

Reporting to the UK Finance Manager, the Management Accountant will play a key role in the preparation of the monthly management reporting pack, while taking responsibility for the management and collection of a c.£2.5m UK sales ledger.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supporting the preparation of monthly management accounts and reporting packs.
  • Preparing balance sheet reconciliations, accruals, prepayments, journals and fixed asset reporting.
  • Managing the month-end close across creditors, debtors, cash and general ledger.
  • Producing sales analysis to support management reporting and sales commission calculations.
  • Preparing and reviewing weekly cost of sales variance analysis, including presenting findings at review meetings.
  • Providing working capital reporting across accounts receivable, accounts payable and inventory, including associated provisions.
  • Taking ownership of the £2.5m UK sales ledger, ensuring accurate posting, reconciliation and ledger housekeeping.
  • Managing credit control and actively reducing overdue debt through effective collection methods.
  • Reviewing customer credit limits, new account applications, credit checks and orders on hold.
  • Producing monthly AR reporting and supporting credit control meetings and KPI reporting.
  • Working closely with Sales, Customer Service and other internal teams to resolve customer queries and outstanding invoices.
  • Supporting bad debt provisions, write-offs and any necessary legal escalation.
  • Supporting annual price list preparation across multiple currencies, taking standard cost movements into consideration.
  • Analysing actual performance against budget and prior year, including detailed margin and variance analysis.
  • Supporting interim and year-end external audit processes, particularly across AR and management accounting.
  • Identifying trends, variances and opportunities to improve financial and commercial performance.

About You

The successful candidate will ideally be AAT qualified/part-qualified or studying towards a professional accountancy qualification, with experience across management accounting, sales ledger and credit control.

You will have:

  • Experience of month-end and management accounts.
  • Strong sales ledger and credit control experience, with a tenacious approach to debt collection.
  • Good understanding of reconciliations, double-entry bookkeeping and financial controls.
  • Experience of variance, margin and cost analysis.
  • Understanding of working capital and inventory.
  • Strong Excel skills and experience using finance systems; M3 and QlikView would be advantageous.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills, with the ability to liaise confidently with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong numerical accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Excellent organisation skills, self-motivation and the ability to work to deadlines.
  • Ideally, experience within a manufacturing, engineering or product-led environment.

This is an excellent opportunity to join an established international manufacturing business in a role that offers genuine breadth across management accounting, commercial finance, working capital and credit control. The role would suit an ambitious finance professional looking to broaden their experience and can also work independently and support a small finance team.
