Cooper Parry Finance Recruitment are supporting a successful and growing manufacturing business based in Portlethen, looking to appoint a Management Accountant to join their expanding finance team.
This is a newly created position, reflecting continued business growth and investment in the finance function. The role offers the opportunity to take ownership of key accounting responsibilities while working closely with the wider business in a hands-on SME environment.
We are open to speaking with experienced Management Accountants looking for their next challenge, as well as ambitious Assistant Accountants who are ready to take the next step in their career.
The Opportunity
Working as part of a collaborative finance team, you'll play a key role in delivering accurate financial information to support business decision-making. This is a varied position where no two days are the same, and you'll be expected to take a proactive, flexible approach, supporting the wider team wherever required.
The successful candidate will thrive in a hands-on environment and be comfortable getting involved across a broad range of finance activities, including providing cover during annual leave periods.

Key Responsibilities
- Preparation of monthly management accounts
- Balance sheet reconciliations and review of financial controls
- Month-end reporting and variance analysis
- Assisting with budgeting and forecasting processes
- Supporting year-end audit activities
- Cash flow monitoring and reporting
- Maintaining and improving financial processes and procedures
- Providing support across transactional finance functions when required
- Working closely with operational teams across the business
- Assisting with the development and mentoring of junior team members where appropriate
Background & Experience
We're keen to hear from individuals who can demonstrate:
- Experience within a manufacturing, engineering or wider SME environment
- Previous management accounts experience, or experience as an Assistant Accountant looking to step into a Management Accountant role
- Strong month-end accounting knowledge
- A proactive and hands-on approach to work
- The ability to adapt and support across multiple areas of finance
- Good communication skills and the confidence to work with stakeholders across the business
- Interest or experience in supervising, mentoring or managing staff would be advantageous
