Position: Management Accountant

Contract: Part time, permanent - 3 days / 24 hours, per week

Location: Reading / Hybrid

Salary: £37,000- £40,000 FTE, dependent on experience

The Role

This is an exciting opportunity for a Management Accountant to play a pivotal role in the finance team of a Charity-led group during an exciting phase of growth. Reporting into the Finance & Operations Director, you will take ownership of delivering accurate, timely and insightful management reporting that supports operational performance and strategic decision-making.

Key responsibilities across both companies will include:

  • Managing month-end processes, including journals, accruals, and prepayments.
  • Perform balance sheet reconciliations and intercompany reconciliations.
  • Preparation of monthly and quarterly management accounts to agreed deadlines.
  • Working closely with colleagues across Finance and other business functions to gather, validate, and interpret financial data.
  • Supporting improvements to reporting processes, controls, and governance.
  • Preparing quarterly VAT returns.
  • Supporting budgeting, cash flow planning, and audits.
  • Ad-hoc reporting as required by the Senior Leadership Team.
  • Any other duties as reasonably required.

Knowledge and Skills:

Required:

  • Experience of creating management accounts
  • Proficiency in financial reporting and analysis
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel
  • Attention to detail and a proactive approach to work
  • Excellent communication and presentation abilities
  • Strong organisational and self-management skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Eligibility to work in the UK without restrictions

Desirable:

  • Experience with Xero software
  • AAT level 4 qualified or higher

This role is advertised as three days per week, although we can consider a working pattern across four or five shorter days where this works for both the candidate and the organisation.
