Management Accountant
Agricultural Food Producer
Cranbrook, Kent

We are searching for a commercially minded and hands-on Management Accountant to join a small finance team for a large agricultural food producer and distributor based in Cranbrook, Kent.
The new Management Accountant will lead a team of three, working closely with the Managing Director and interim Head of Finance to prepare, develop, and analyse financial information, ensuring that strategic decisions are based on reliable data.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare accruals, prepayments, and month-end journals.
- Conduct bank and other balance sheet reconciliations.
- Monitor company bank account balances daily, raise and submit supplier payment runs for approval, and initiate inter-account transfers.
- Maintain the fixed asset register.
- Produce monthly management accounts and provide commentary on results.
- Prepare and submit monthly VAT Returns.
- Oversee the purchase-to-pay process, including approvals routing and controls.
- Participate in the annual budget process and provide analysis with written explanations.
- Assist in preparing rolling profit and loss, balance sheet, and cash flow forecasts.
- Report and analyse both financial and non-financial indicators.
- Monitor trends, probe anomalies, and recommend actions to improve site performance on a continuous basis.
- Calculate and provide analysis on accurate product costing for decisions at the senior management level.
- Liaise with external auditors, manage information and sample requests, provide timely responses, and support year-end sign-off.
- Manage a team including a Purchase Ledger Clerk, a part-time Sales Ledger Clerk, and a part-time Credit Controller.

- Qualified or part-qualified (ACA/ACCA/CIMA or equivalent) with management accounting experience.
- Proficiency in Sage 200.
- Experience of purchase-to-pay (P2P) systems; familiarity with Sicon Approvals (Sage 200).
- Experience of working in the FMCG industry.
- Strong spreadsheet skills, especially in Excel.
- Highly motivated with strong financial and analytical skills.
- Inquisitive nature and ability to work independently and as part of a larger finance team.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to work to strict timelines.
