Management Accountant

Location: Cardiff (Hybrid – 3 days per week in the office)

Salary: £37,000 – £45,000 (Negotiable depending on depth of experience)

Job Type: Full-time, Permanent

The Opportunity

Greystone Consulting Group is delighted to be partnering with a well-established and growing organisation based in Cardiff to recruit a Management Accountant.

This is an excellent opportunity for either a fully qualified accountant (ACCA/CIMA/ACA) or a part-qualified accountant looking to continue their professional development within a supportive finance team. The successful candidate will play a key role in producing accurate financial information, supporting business decision-making and ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of the finance function.

Key Responsibilities

  • Produce monthly management accounts, providing insightful commentary on financial performance.
  • Review and reconcile all balance sheet accounts, ensuring accuracy and integrity of financial records.
  • Prepare and post month-end journals.
  • Reconcile weekly revenue and COS, working closely with the Operations team to correct any issues identified.
  • Supervise and mentor the Accounts Assistant.
  • Oversee Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable tasks performed by Accounts Assistant.
  • Prepare and submit quarterly VAT returns.
  • Reconcile and make Monthly PAYE payments.
  • Process Monthly Payroll.
  • Oversee and Authorise Weekly payment runs.
  • Oversee the Credit Control process undertaken by Accounts Assistant
  • Support the annual audit process, acting as the primary contact for external auditors.
  • Assist with year-end P11D preparation and compliance.
  • Support continuous improvement of finance processes and controls.
  • Provide ad hoc financial analysis and reporting as required.

About You

We're looking for someone who enjoys taking ownership, has excellent attention to detail and is comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.

Essential

  • Qualified (ACCA, CIMA or ACA) or actively studying towards a professional accounting qualification.
  • Previous experience in a Management Accountant or Assistant Management Accountant role.
  • Experience preparing monthly management accounts.
  • Payroll processing experience.
  • Strong reconciliation experience.
  • Good understanding of accruals, prepayments and journal postings.
  • Excellent Excel skills.
  • Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and prioritise workload effectively.

Desirable

  • Experience using accounting software such as Sage, Xero etc.
  • Experience supporting budgeting and forecasting.
  • Previous experience working within a commercial business.
