Team Overview
The Finance team has approximately 13 people and looks after the firm’s financial matters. It plays a huge role in supporting the business on a day-to-day basis. The team is relied upon to provide timely and accurate financial statistics, reports, and accounts.
Role Overview
You will play a key role in supporting the Finance team by delivering accurate, timely and insightful financial information to assist decision-making across the business. Reporting to the Financial Controller, you will be responsible for the preparation of monthly management accounts, financial analysis, budgeting and forecasting activities, balance sheet reconciliations and performance reporting.
You will work closely with budget holders and stakeholders across the firm, providing financial support and insight to drive business performance. In addition, you will contribute to the continuous improvement of financial processes, with a particular emphasis on AI, systems and controls, ensuring the Finance function delivers a high-quality service while maintaining strong governance and financial integrity.
This position offers an excellent opportunity for a newly qualified accountant to develop their business partnering, analytical and leadership skills within a collaborative and growing finance team.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Prepare monthly management accounts for presentation to the Finance Partner, including accruals, prepayments, provisions and a wide range of month end journals.
- In conjunction with the Assistant Finance Manager and Financial Controller, assist teams with the understanding of management figures including the design and delivery of team specific reports.
- Meet with the team leaders and budget holders on a regular basis to review financial information.
- Design and prepare ad hoc reports and extract information from the firm’s financial systems.
- Assist with the review of partner provisions in respect to debtors and work-in-progress, and liaison with partners as appropriate and necessary.
- Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
- Assist with the review and control of overheads and specific responsibility for certain budget areas.

Budget
- Assist with the collation of twice-yearly budget.
- Assist in preparing the team and overhead templates ready for budget holders to populate.
- Assist the Financial Accountant with the annual audit visit, providing relevant information or supporting documentation during the course of their visit.
- Process quarterly VAT return for the Buzzacott LLP VAT group which includes its subsidiaries using NAV (the accounting software) and consolidation schedules for review by the Associate Director - Finance and to arrange payment of any outstanding liability.
- Responsible for monthly/quarterly/annual government reporting; liaising with HR to obtain the relevant information and collating data.
- Assist in supervising the mentoring and coaching of the junior members of the Finance team.
What We're Looking For
- Professional qualification such as ACCA, CIMA, or ACA.
- Strong numerical and analytical skills.
- Excellent Excel skills and confidence working with large data sets.
- Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to prioritise work and manage multiple deadlines.
