Management Accountant

Location: Amersham, Bucks
Salary: £50,000 - £60,000 + Benefits
Work Arrangement: Office Based | 5 Days Per Week

Are you a hands-on Management Accountant looking for a role where you can make a genuine impact beyond the month-end?

Our client is a successful, privately-owned entrepreneurial SME with ambitious growth plans and an exciting future. As the business continues to evolve, they are looking to appoint a proactive Management Accountant to work closely with the Finance Director, taking ownership of the day-to-day finance function while playing a key role in driving projects, improving processes and supporting business growth.

This is a broad and varied position offering exposure across financial reporting, commercial activities and project accounting. It's an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys improving the way finance operates and wants to be part of a growing business where ideas are welcomed and valued.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing monthly management accounts, journals and balance sheet reconciliations
  • Managing daily cashflow and bank reconciliations
  • Producing VAT returns and ensuring financial compliance
  • Supporting the year-end audit process
  • Monitoring financial performance and providing meaningful reporting to senior management
  • Taking ownership of stock reporting and financial analysis
  • Supporting project accounting activities across the business
  • Identifying opportunities to improve financial processes, controls and reporting
  • Working closely with operational teams to provide financial insight and support key business initiatives
  • Assisting with ad hoc commercial and finance projects as the business continues to grow

About You

We're looking for an ambitious finance professional who enjoys working within a fast-paced SME environment and wants to broaden their responsibilities beyond traditional management accounting.

You'll ideally have:

  • Previous Management Accounting experience
  • Strong balance sheet reconciliation and month-end experience
  • Good VAT knowledge
  • Experience supporting audit processes
  • Advanced Excel skills and strong systems aptitude
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • A proactive approach with a passion for improving processes
  • The confidence to work independently while building strong relationships across the business
  • Previous experience within an SME or entrepreneurial environment would be highly advantageous
