About The Role
This permanent, full-time Management Accountant post sits with a farmer-owned dairy co-operative near Wigton, at its Lake District Creamery site in Aspatria. Reporting within a manufacturing finance function, the successful candidate partners with operational colleagues, sharpening cost reporting, budgeting and forecasting while driving practical improvements. Salary ranges from £40,000 to £43,000, supplemented by a discretionary bonus of up to 3% tied to business performance, plus 34 days' holiday inclusive of public holidays and the option to buy five more. Applicants should demonstrate strong management accounting ability, confident spreadsheet use and clear communication skills, ideally gained in a production or FMCG setting.

A role with variety and influence
You’ll combine management accounting for Lake District Biogas, which converts dairy by-products into renewable energy, with stock accounting and controls across the Cheese Business Unit.
Your Work Will Include
- Preparing weekly reporting, monthly management accounts, forecasts and budgets.
- Explaining performance, investigating variances and identifying cost-saving opportunities.
- Maintaining accurate stock valuations, reconciliations and month-end reporting.
- Reviewing stock movements, coordinating counts and resolving discrepancies.
- Strengthening controls and supporting audit requirements.
- Working with finance, warehouse and site teams to improve processes.
You’ll report to the CBU Finance Business Partner, with no direct reports. Success comes through clear insight, good relationships and constructive challenge.

What will help you succeed?
You’ll bring practical management accounting experience, an understanding of manufacturing and stock processes, and confidence explaining numbers to non-finance colleagues.
You might be part-qualified in ACCA or CIMA, progressing from AAT, or qualified by experience with a relevant manufacturing finance background.
Dairy experience isn’t essential. We’re interested in your ability to investigate, ask questions and turn your findings into useful recommendations.
Working arrangements
Monday–Friday, normally 9am–5pm. Alternative start and finish times may be agreed to suit team cover.
This is a site-based role, with occasional travel to other locations, including Haverfordwest.
