Key Responsibilities:

Accounts Payable & Financial Controls

  • Own the corporate card expenditure process, including reviewing, validating, and posting transactions through our specialist accounting software.
  • Support the Accounts Payable Assistant with invoice processing and bank reconciliations on an ad hoc basis.
  • Ensure expenditure is recorded accurately and in line with company policies and financial controls.

Financial Accounting & Management Reporting

  • Own month-end accounting processes, including prepayments, accruals, fixed assets, capitalisation, and payroll journals.
  • Review and validate account coding for accuracy and consistency.
  • Prepare balance sheet reconciliations and supporting schedules, investigating and resolving any unexpected movements.
  • Manage intercompany invoicing and reconciliations, ensuring timely and accurate cross-entity charging.
  • Prepare monthly variance and trend analysis, providing clear commentary and actionable insights.
  • Support the preparation of the monthly Management Accounts Pack and associated reporting schedules.

External Reporting

  • Prepare Board reporting materials, including relevant KPIs and financial analysis.
  • Support the external audit process by providing schedules, reconciliations, and supporting documentation.
  • Assist with the preparation and submission of quarterly VAT returns.

Business Partnering & Financial Planning

  • Produce departmental reporting, highlighting key trends, risks, opportunities, and areas for improvement.
  • Partner with department heads through regular review meetings to discuss performance, understand variances, and support budgeting and forecasting activities.
  • Provide financial analysis and insight to support decision-making across the business.
  • Build strong relationships with stakeholders to promote financial accountability and improve overall business performance.
