Job Overview
The Management Accountant will serve as a key strategic advisor to the Water, Air Quality and Fire Risk Assessment businesses, providing financial analysis and operational support to drive profitability, enable growth initiatives, and ensure robust financial governance. The role delivers actionable insights that enhance decision-making and partners closely with operational and commercial leadership teams to achieve financial targets, ensuring strong governance, accurate reporting, and commercially sound support.
Main Duties
Job Objectives and Responsibilities:
- Prepare and present monthly management accounts for a division of Marlowe Environmental Services that specialise in Water, Air Quality and Fire Risk Assessments, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant standards.
- Review project, entity and contract performance, ensuring profitability is maximised and corrective actions are identified early.
- Promote financial accountability across operational teams by explaining results, risks, and opportunities clearly.
- Deliver detailed performance analysis including revenue, margin, cost drivers, and operational KPIs.
- Identify financial risks and opportunities, working collaboratively to implement improvement plans.
- Prepare and present clear and concise Balance Sheet Reconciliations.
- Support periodic reviews with senior stakeholders, providing clear and actionable commentary.
- Strengthen working capital management, including WIP control, revenue recognition, cash collection, and billing accuracy.
What we are looking for
- An experienced Management Accountant
- Strong commercial acumen, with the ability to understand business performance
- A candidate capable of hitting the ground running, given the urgency and complexity
- Experience in fast-paced or transformation environments
- Part-qualified or fully qualified accountant (CIMA, ACCA, ACA, or equivalent).
- Proven experience in management accounting, ideally within the Environmental Services industry.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data into clear insights.
- Proficiency in Excel and experience with accounting software (e.g., SAP, Maximo, Coupa).
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to influence non-financial stakeholders.
- A proactive, problem-solving mindset and a keen eye for process improvement.
