The Role

As Management Accountant, you will be responsible for delivering accurate, timely and meaningful management information that supports effective decision-making across Deli Lites. You will take ownership of key elements of the monthly management accounts process, weekly reporting and the integrity of finance data held within the ERP system.

Working closely with the Head of Finance and colleagues across the business, you will provide clear financial insight, maintain robust accounting schedules and help strengthen controls, reporting quality and continuous improvement within the Finance function.

This role supports Deli Lites values by contributing to strong financial management, operational excellence and sustainable business growth through accuracy, integrity, teamwork and a passion for people, food, service excellence and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare the monthly management accounts pack and supporting monthly reports accurately and to agreed deadlines.
  • Prepare and maintain monthly accruals, prepayments, rebate summaries and hire purchase amortization schedules.
  • Complete profit and loss account apportionment by division and support the production of divisional performance information.
  • Prepare weekly financial and management reports for internal stakeholders.
  • Maintain departmental performance tracking dashboards.
  • Maintain the finance ERP database on a daily basis, helping to protect the accuracy, completeness and consistency of financial data.
  • Analyse financial performance, investigate material variances and provide clear supporting commentary for management review.
  • Maintain appropriate working papers, reconciliations and audit trails to support the management accounts process.
  • Work collaboratively with operational and commercial colleagues to obtain information, resolve queries and improve the quality of financial reporting.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, year-end activity, statutory audit requirements and finance projects as required.
  • Identify and implement practical improvements to reporting processes, controls, systems and the efficiency of month-end close.
  • Provide support and guidance to other members of the Finance team and undertake additional accounting duties appropriate to the role.

Essential Criteria

  • Qualified accountant with relevant management accounting experience.
  • Experience preparing monthly management accounts and management reporting packs within a busy finance environment.
  • Sound understanding of accruals, prepayments, rebates, balance sheet reconciliations and profit and loss reporting.
  • Strong analytical and numerical skills, with the ability to interpret financial information and explain key movements clearly.
  • Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Experience using accounting software or an ERP system and maintaining accurate financial data.
  • Strong attention to detail, professional judgement and a commitment to meeting reporting deadlines.
  • Effective communication and stakeholder-management skills, with the confidence to work across finance and non-finance teams.
  • Ability to organise competing priorities, work independently and contribute positively within a collaborative Finance team.
  • Full right to work in the UK.

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience within manufacturing, FMCG, food production or another fast-paced operational environment.
  • Experience producing divisional or departmental profit and loss reporting.
  • Experience supporting budgeting, forecasting, year-end accounts and external audit processes.
  • Experience improving finance systems, reporting tools, controls or month-end processes.
  • Commercial awareness and an interest in the wider food manufacturing sector.
