Contract Management Accountant | Newhaven, East Sussex | 2-3 Months

Our client, a growing and entrepreneurial business based in Newhaven, is looking for a Contract Management Accountant to join them on an initial 2-3 month assignment with possibility to extend.

This is a hands-on role reporting directly to the Head of Finance, supporting the business during a new system implementation. You'll join a small, close-knit finance team who work highly collaboratively, and your input will genuinely shape how successfully things run during a period of change.

The exact focus of the role can flex depending on your background, whether that's leaning more heavily into month end and reporting, or taking a more active role in the systems implementation itself.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

The role:

  • Support the Head of Finance throughout the system implementation, with scope to get more involved in process mapping, testing and data migration if that's where your strengths lie
  • Manage month-end management accounts, including journals, accruals, prepayments and balance sheet reconciliations, with the ability to take on more of this workload if your background is stronger on the reporting side
  • Provide ad hoc financial analysis and support to the wider business, with strong Excel skills used throughout
  • Work closely with a small team, so a flexible, roll-up-your-sleeves approach is essential
