SCCL is comprised of three brands, Scottish Citylink, Megabus and Falcon, which together generate annual revenues in the region of £65m per annum running bus and coach services in Scotland, England and Wales.
The head office is located within Buchanan Bus Station, Glasgow.
Job Summary
The Management Accountant (MA) will assist with the preparation of the period-end management accounts and annual financial statements, including the preparation of journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations.
Main Responsibilities
Management accountant responsibilities include:
- Support the month-end close process, ensuring journals, accruals, prepayments and reconciliations are completed accurately and to agreed deadlines.
- Prepare monthly management accounts schedules, including profit and loss, balance sheet reconciliations, variance analysis and supporting analysis.
- Review cost performance against budget and forecast, highlighting and investigating unusual movements.
- Contribute to the preparation of year-end schedules, audit information and statutory reporting support.
- Help improve finance processes, controls and reporting outputs, including identifying opportunities to reduce manual work and improve accuracy.
- Support finance-related projects, system changes and ad hoc analysis as required.

Competencies & Skills
- Previous Experience as a management accountant or similar level.
- Part Qualified Accountant or Qualified by experience with an excellent understanding of fundamental accounting principles and the application of them in practice.
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications with strong Excel skills.
- Excellent written and spoken English with the ability to communicate clearly and at all levels.
- High level of accuracy and excellent attention to detail.
- Organised, proactive, methodical and results-orientated.
- Ability to manage own workload effectively with minimal supervision and work to strict deadlines.
- Experience of accounting software (Oracle or SAP are advantageous, but not necessary).
- Team player committed to ensuring that the overall team and business objectives are met.

Hours of Work
Monday – Friday – 38 hours per week. Based within Buchanan Bus Station with flexibility to work from home two days a week.
Temporary contract to end of January 2028
