About the role:

Due to continued growth and increasing international operations, we are looking to expand our Finance team with the appointment of a Management Accountant based in our London office.

The Opportunity

This is an excellent opportunity for a part-qualified accountant with insurance sector experience to join a dynamic and growing business. Reporting directly to the Finance Manager, you will play a key role in providing insightful management information, supporting financial reporting, and partnering with underwriting, claims and operational teams across the business. The successful candidate will contribute to financial control, business performance analysis and data validation activities, while helping to strengthen reporting capabilities across multiple international jurisdictions.

  • Management Information & Analysis

    • Prepare and analyse management information relating to premiums, commissions, claims and underwriting performance.
    • Produce meaningful reporting to support underwriting and claims decision-making.
    • Partner with underwriting, claims and operational teams to investigate and resolve business queries.
    • Assist in developing KPI dashboards and performance reporting tools for stakeholders.
  • Data Validation & Financial Control

    • Validate underwriting contract data and ensure information captured within operational systems is complete, accurate and consistent with contractual documentation.
    • Review claims data, outstanding claims balances and actuarial reserving information, identifying anomalies and trends through data analysis.
    • Prepare and post non-technical expense journals, ensuring accuracy and supporting documentation is maintained.
  • Financial Reporting

    • Support the monthly financial close process, including general ledger reconciliations and trial balance reviews.
    • Assist in the preparation of monthly Profit & Loss accounts and Balance Sheets across multiple international entities.
    • Support the preparation of statutory accounts, regulatory returns and tax filings across various jurisdictions.
    • Assist with the production of premium, commission and claims bordereaux for insurance and reinsurance capacity providers.

About You

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Part-qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA or ACA).
  • Experience working within the non-life insurance or reinsurance sector.
  • Strong understanding of UK GAAP and familiarity with IFRS/IAS reporting standards.
  • Ability to interpret insurance and reinsurance contracts and understand their accounting implications.
  • Knowledge of insurance and reinsurance structures, including facultative, proportional and non-proportional arrangements.
  • Advanced Excel skills, including complex formulas, PivotTables and data analysis techniques.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work accurately with large volumes of data.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build effective relationships across the business.

Desirable Skills & Experience

  • Experience supporting finance transformation initiatives or system migration projects.
  • Interest in finance process improvement and automation.
  • Experience developing management dashboards and KPI reporting.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to identify inconsistencies and anomalies in financial and operational data.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint, including the preparation of technical papers and presentations.
