Cotswold Airport is the largest and busiest privately owned airfield in the UK, located in the heart of the Cotswolds near Cirencester. Originally known as RAF Kemble, it has evolved into a dynamic hub for aviation-related commerce. The airport hosts a range of aviation businesses and services, providing a unique environment for professionals interested in the aviation sector. It is also home to the British Airways Negus 747 conference and events space, offering distinctive facilities for corporate and special events.
The Role
We are looking for an experienced and commercially minded Management Accountant to join our growing aviation business in Gloucestershire.
Working within a small, close-knit team, you will take responsibility for the day-to-day finance function and provide accurate financial information and analysis to support business and operational decision-making.
This is a hands-on role, ideally suited to someone who enjoys working independently and taking ownership in an ever-changing airport environment.

Key Responsibilities
- Prepare accurate monthly management accounts and financial reports.
- Monitor budgets, forecasts, and cash flow.
- Provide financial analysis and commentary to the senior management team.
- Investigate variances and identify opportunities to improve financial performance.
- Manage purchase and sales ledgers, invoicing, and credit control.
- Complete bank and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Support payroll processing and review staffing costs.
- Prepare and submit VAT returns and assist with year-end accounts.
- Liaise with external accountants, auditors, and other financial advisers.
- Monitor business costs and identify opportunities for cost savings.
- Support pricing, costing, and profitability analysis.
- Provide financial support and advice to operational and commercial teams.
- Maintain strong financial controls and accurate accounting records.
- Develop and improve financial processes as the business grows.

Essential
- Previous experience in a Management Accountant or similar role.
- Strong knowledge of management accounting and financial reporting.
- Experience with budgets, forecasting, and cash flow.
- Strong Excel skills and good attention to detail.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to communicate financial information clearly to non-finance colleagues.
- A proactive and practical approach to work.
Desirable
- AAT, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent qualification.
- Experience within aviation, aerospace, engineering, transport, or a similar industry
- Experience with accounting software such as Xero, Sage, or QuickBooks.
