Your tasks
Working closely with the Finance Controller and Head of Finance, the role focuses on project-based work alongside day to day input and maintenance of the management accounting system and other duties in relation to ensuring the integrity of the accounting system and the efficient running of the business.
Daily/weekly:
- Day to day oversight of the management accounting system (SAP) to ensure it is up to date, accurate and reflects the financial status of the business
- Maintain Product Cost data in SAP and related control records offline
- Ensure that the Ledgers are kept up to date and all balance sheet and intercompany reconciliations are complete
- Ownership of company credit cards, ensuring submission of invoices in a timely manner and reconciliation of accounts for month end
- Support the team with additional tasks as required.
Monthly:
- Support the FC with month-end closing tasks adhering to the strict & tight timelines
- Product costing, Variance Analysis, Material OH, Labour rate calculations etc to ensure integrity of standard cost data
- Inventory revaluation so that stock is maintained at accurate cost basis
- Review of Inventory provisions and communicating with Quality/Purchasing teams to ensure provisions are actively managed
- Support in strengthening the internal control system and process improvements
- Update project working files with KPIs, margins and forecasts to support the HOF with reporting
- Month end Cost Centre reporting to budget holders, dealing with queries and analysis of data
- Support the team with additional tasks as required.

Annual Projects:
- Support with the year end, liaising with external auditors, collating information and answering queries
- Budgets and forecasting processes, collating information for discussion with budget holders and ensuring all data submitted by deadlines
- RDEC claim – collate information for external tax accountants, liaise with R&D team with projects and allocation of costs. Dealing with queries and review of data prior to submission
- Support the team with additional tasks as required.
Your profile
- Preferred Qualified CIMA, ACCA or CA but will accept QBE
- Experience of inventory accounting, labour rates and overhead costings
- Able to work to tight operating deadlines, especially at month end
- Self-motivated, confident and proactive
- Able to communicate effectively with people at all levels
- Calm and positive approach to the pressures of working in a busy finance department
- Able to work effectively as an individual and as part of a team
- Happy to support other areas of the finance team during periods of holiday, sickness, pressure points
