Broster Buchanan are partnering with a well-established and growing retail business in Manchester to recruit a qualified Management Accountant.
This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded accountant to join a high-performing finance team and play a key role in supporting business performance. The successful candidate will take ownership of the management accounts process while working closely with operational and commercial stakeholders across the business.
The Role
Reporting into the senior finance team, you will be responsible for delivering accurate and insightful financial information, helping the business understand performance and make informed commercial decisions.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Preparing monthly management accounts, including P&L and balance sheet reporting.
- Providing detailed variance analysis against budget, forecast and prior year.
- Producing management information and KPI reporting for senior stakeholders.
- Supporting the annual budgeting and forecasting processes.
- Working closely with retail, operations, buying and commercial teams to understand business performance.
- Analysing costs, margins and profitability across the business.
- Supporting the month-end close process, including accruals, prepayments, journals and reconciliations.
- Providing financial insight and challenge to non-finance stakeholders.
- Supporting year-end audit and statutory reporting requirements.
- Identifying opportunities to improve financial controls, reporting and processes.
- Providing ad-hoc analysis to support commercial decision-making and strategic projects.

About You
- You will be a qualified accountant - CIMA, ACCA, ACA
- Experience within retail, FMCG, consumer or another fast-paced commercial environment preferred.
- Strong technical management accounting skills.
- Excellent Excel and data analysis capabilities.
- Experience producing and interpreting management information.
- A commercially focused approach, with the ability to turn financial data into meaningful insight.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and the ability to work to tight deadlines.
- A proactive approach and the confidence to challenge and influence stakeholders.
