Management Accountant
Leicester | 12-Month Fixed-Term Contract
Ready to step into a key finance role within a global engineering and manufacturing business? We’re recruiting on behalf of a highly successful aerospace engineering manufacturer with annual revenues exceeding £250 million. Due to ongoing business requirements, they are seeking an experienced Management Accountant to join their Leicester-based finance team on a 12-month fixed-term contract.
This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified or finalist accountant looking to take ownership of financial reporting, business partnering, and process improvement activities within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
The Opportunity
Reporting directly to the Finance & IT Director, you’ll play a vital role in delivering accurate financial information, supporting operational decision-making, and ensuring robust financial controls across the business.
You’ll also act as deputy to the Finance Manager when required and support the development of junior finance team members.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and support the timely completion of monthly management accounts
- Perform balance sheet reconciliations and maintain accounting accuracy across the finance function
- Analyse financial performance and investigate variances against budget and forecast
- Support month-end and quarter-end reporting activities
- Manage foreign exchange accounting, including currency revaluations and rate updates
- Assist with VAT returns, statutory reporting, and external audits
- Ensure SOX compliance and maintain strong internal controls
- Partner with manufacturing and operational teams to identify cost-saving and process improvement opportunities
- Support capital expenditure evaluations and investment business cases
- Drive improvements in working capital performance
- Manage Accounts Payable activities and mentor developing finance team members
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across systems, reporting, and procedures

About You
We’re looking for a proactive and commercially minded finance professional who enjoys working closely with operational stakeholders and influencing business performance.
You’ll ideally have:

- ACCA or CIMA qualification, or be a finalist with relevant experience
- Previous experience as a Management Accountant within manufacturing, engineering, or a similar operational environment
- Strong management accounting and financial reporting skills
- Experience working to tight reporting deadlines
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Confident stakeholder management and business partnering skills
- A continuous improvement mindset
- Strong communication and leadership capabilities
- Degree-level education would be advantageous
