Management Accountant – Record to Report (6-Month Fixed Term Contract)
Location: Thurmaston (Hybrid Working)
Salary: £35,000 - £40,000
Contract: Fixed Term Contract (approximately 6 months)
Start Date: Immediate start preferred; flexibility available for the right candidate
About the Role
We're looking for a motivated and proactive Management Accountant to join the UK Bus Finance Shared Services team within our Record-to-Report (R2R) function.
This is an excellent opportunity for a part-qualified accountant to gain broad exposure across a large, complex finance environment while taking ownership of key accounting and reporting activities. You'll play a vital role in supporting the delivery of accurate financial reporting, maintaining a strong control environment, and contributing to the continuous improvement of finance processes.
The role offers a mix of hands-on accounting responsibilities, stakeholder engagement and process improvement activity, making it ideal for someone looking to further develop their management accounting career in a fast-paced and collaborative team.
This role is based at our Thurmaston office and operates on a hybrid basis, with a minimum of three days per week in the office.

What You'll Be Doing
- Taking ownership of key month-end activities including journals, accruals and prepayments.
- Preparing and reviewing balance sheet reconciliations, investigating and resolving outstanding items.
- Supporting the production of monthly management accounts and period-end reporting.
- Assisting with statutory, tax and group reporting requirements.
- Providing information and supporting documentation for internal and external audits.
- Working closely with Finance Business Partners and colleagues across Shared Services to resolve queries and support operational decision-making.
- Maintaining process documentation and ensuring adherence to internal controls and governance requirements.
- Identifying opportunities to improve, standardise and simplify processes across the R2R function.
- Providing flexible support across the wider finance team during busy reporting periods.
What We're Looking For
- Part-qualified ACCA, CIMA or ACA (or equivalent relevant experience).
- Experience within a management accounting or financial accounting environment.
- Strong understanding of month-end processes, journals, accruals, prepayments and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Good Excel skills and confidence working with finance systems.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
- Ability to work independently while managing competing priorities and deadlines.
- A collaborative and proactive approach with strong stakeholder management skills.

Desirable Experience
- Previous experience within a Shared Services environment.
- Experience working within a large or complex organisation.
- Oracle E-Business Suite experience.
- Exposure to process improvement or finance transformation initiatives.
