Forge Talent are partnering exclusively with a high-growth SME with an exciting future ahead. Following significant investment and sustained growth, the business is continuing to strengthen its finance team and is looking to appoint a commercially minded Management Accountant. This is far more than a traditional reporting role, offering the opportunity to become a key member of the finance function with genuine influence across the wider business.
The Role
This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious accountant who enjoys taking ownership, improving processes and partnering with operational stakeholders. You'll lead the month-end reporting cycle, support commercial decision-making and work closely with teams across manufacturing, engineering and operations to ensure finance plays an integral role in business performance. As the business continues to expand, there is a clear pathway into a future Finance Manager or Finance Business Partner position.

- Lead the preparation of monthly management accounts, ensuring accurate and timely reporting.
- Deliver insightful financial analysis and performance reporting to support key business decisions.
- Review revenue, project profitability, performance and cost movements.
- Prepare month-end journals, including accruals, prepayments and payroll adjustments.
- Complete balance sheet reconciliations and resolve outstanding items promptly.
- Partner with operational teams to provide financial insight into projects, margins and performance trends.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting and ongoing financial planning activities.
- Produce regular sales and operational reporting for senior management.
- Monitor cash flow, working capital and supplier payment schedules.
- Support inventory reporting, stock reconciliations and cost analysis while strengthening financial controls.
- Assist with VAT returns, year-end audit requirements and wider financial compliance activities.
- Identify opportunities to streamline reporting, improve processes and introduce greater automation.
- Support the development of junior team members and contribute to the ongoing evolution of the finance function.

About You
We're looking for someone who enjoys understanding how a business operates rather than simply producing the numbers. You'll ideally have:
- ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualification (or be at finalist level).
- Strong technical accounting knowledge and month-end reporting experience.
- A solid understanding of UK accounting standards and VAT.
- Excellent Excel skills with strong analytical ability.
- The confidence to build relationships with both finance and non-finance stakeholders.
- A proactive approach with a genuine interest in improving processes, reporting and financial controls.
