Job Title: Management Accountant

A well-established specialist accountancy firm based near Ormskirk is seeking a Management Accountant to join its team.

This is an excellent opportunity for an accountant with previous accountancy practice experience to join a small, collaborative firm and take responsibility for delivering high-quality management accounts and financial support to a portfolio of clients.

Role Responsibilities:

As the Management Accountant, you will be responsible for:

  • Preparing monthly management accounts, including profit and loss accounts, balance sheets and supporting schedules
  • Reviewing performance against budgets and prior periods
  • Producing clear variance analysis
  • Preparing and reviewing VAT returns
  • Maintaining balance sheet reconciliations
  • Monitoring cash flow and working capital
  • Assisting with budgeting and forecasting
  • Supporting year-end accounts preparation

A key part of the role will be working directly with clients to help them understand their financial performance. You will:

  • Build strong relationships with business owners, managers and finance teams
  • Respond to queries
  • Identify trends and risks
  • Provide commercially useful insight rather than simply producing the numbers

Ideal Candidate:

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience working within an accountancy practice
  • Strong management accounts experience
  • ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified, part-qualified, approaching qualification or QBE
  • A good understanding of management accounts, VAT, reconciliations, budgeting and financial analysis
  • Confidence in communicating financial information to non-financial stakeholders
  • High level of organization and ability to manage recurring monthly deadlines

Salary:
