The Role

Accountancy Capital is recruiting a Management Accountant for an established, growing publishing and media business based in the City of London, close to Moorgate. The business is creating this role to strengthen its finance function. You'll report directly to the Finance Director and CFO, so you'll work closely with senior leadership and see how the business is run financially.

The role is full-time and hybrid. You'll be in the office five days a week for the first three months, which is designed to help you settle into the team and learn the business. After that, you'll work three days in the office and two from home. The client can offer an immediate start for the right candidate but will be flexible on timing.

This is a hands-on role covering the full management accounting cycle, from month-end close through reporting, cash, payroll and forecasting. It suits someone who likes a varied remit, enjoys being close to decision-makers, and wants to make a visible contribution to a small, capable finance team.

Responsibilities

  • Own the month-end close process, including journals, accruals, prepayments and reconciliations, delivering accurate results to agreed deadlines
  • Prepare monthly management accounts and reporting packs for the Finance Director, CFO and wider leadership team
  • Carry out financial analysis, including variance analysis against budget and forecast, with clear commentary on performance and key drivers
  • Maintain and reconcile the balance sheet, investigating and resolving issues promptly
  • Prepare cash flow reporting and manage day-to-day cash, including bank reconciliations and short-term cash forecasting
  • Process monthly payroll and handle related journals, reconciliations and liaison with payroll providers or HMRC as needed
  • Support the annual budgeting process and regular reforecasts, building and maintaining the underlying models
  • Manage the accounting for two sets of accounts, keeping reporting consistent and accurate across both
  • Work with budget holders across the business, giving them financial insight and supporting better commercial decisions
  • Help with year-end preparation and audit support, providing schedules and responding to auditor queries
  • Find and implement process improvements to strengthen controls and make the finance function more efficient

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
