Management Accountant Salary: £35,000 to £40,000 full-time equivalent, pro rata based on agreed hours Hours: Approximately 30 to 35 hours per week across five days Location: Remote-first, with a minimum of two days per month in London Contract: Permanent Reports to: Finance Lead

About Old Spike Old Spike is a growing speciality coffee business and social enterprise. We roast coffee in South London, operate cafés across the city and supply wholesale partners throughout the UK. Our group consists of four companies covering production, sales, cafés and head office. We are looking for a hands-on Management Accountant to take ownership of the day-to-day finances across the group.

The role You will manage the finance process from bookkeeping and accounts receivable through to month-end and management accounts. We want someone who will get to know the business inside and out, understand how each part connects and use that knowledge to improve our processes and financial reporting. Accounts receivable will be an important part of the role. You will be responsible for ensuring invoices are raised promptly, outstanding balances are actively managed and customer account queries are resolved. You will report to our Finance Lead, who oversees finance across the wider business and provides support on more complex and strategic matters.

Key responsibilities Own the day-to-day bookkeeping across four group companies. Maintain accurate records in Xero. Manage sales invoicing, accounts receivable and credit control. Manage and reconcile payments through GoCardless. Process supplier invoices and prepare payment runs. Complete bank, balance-sheet and intercompany reconciliations. Manage accruals and prepayments. Coordinate payroll information and support VAT returns. Lead month-end and produce monthly management accounts. Maintain short-term cash-flow forecasts. Support budgeting and forecasting. Provide reporting across production, sales, cafés and head office. Improve finance processes, systems and controls. Use AI, automation and system integrations to reduce manual work and improve efficiency.

About you We are looking for someone who has: Strong practical experience using Xero. Experience working across multiple companies within a group structure. Strong bookkeeping and month-end experience. Experience managing accounts receivable and credit control. The ability to produce accurate management accounts. A good understanding of intercompany accounting. Strong attention to detail and a clear sense of ownership. The ability to work independently and build relationships with non-finance colleagues. Good Excel or Google Sheets skills

Experience using GoCardless is preferred. We would also favour candidates who have used AI, automation or system integrations to improve finance processes and reporting. You may be part-qualified through ACCA or CIMA, AAT qualified, or qualified by experience. Relevant hands-on experience and the ability to take ownership are more important to us than a particular qualification. Experience in hospitality, retail, wholesale, manufacturing or a multi-site business would be helpful but is not essential.

Hours and flexibility We expect the role to require approximately 30 to 35 hours per week across five days. The final hours will be agreed with the successful candidate, and the salary will be pro rata based on the full-time equivalent range. We can offer flexibility around how the hours are structured, but we need an active and reliable presence during the working day from Monday to Friday. This is a remote-first role, with a minimum of two days per month at our London locations. Some additional attendance may be needed during onboarding or important planning periods.
