Our client is a successful subsidiary of a long established, privately owned British multi-national manufacturing Group headquartered in the UK with operations in the UK, North America, Mexico, China and Malaysia.

This £5m turnover Bristol subsidiary is the clear market leader in its field with an enviable reputation for technical excellence and innovation and has enjoyed significant year on year growth.

The Job:

Reporting directly to the MD in Bristol, this broad, commercially focused role, would offer you the opportunity to take full responsibility for reporting procedures, producing a broad range of monthly management accounts, maintaining strong financial controls, budget and forecasting processes, business performance analysis and helping to drive continuous improvement across finance related activity.

  • Preparing accurate monthly management accounts and business reporting including P&L, balance sheet and cash flow reporting.
  • Maintain strong financial controls and ensure audit readiness.
  • Preparing accruals, prepayments, and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Month-end and year-end journals, closures & annual audit.
  • Managing financial records, bank reconciliations, and reinforcing debtor and creditor control.
  • Processing Wages (fortnightly) and Salaries (monthly) & monthly pension submissions.
  • Ensure HMRC compliance - VAT regulations and statutory reporting obligations.
  • Maintain the fixed assets register and process monthly depreciation journals.

This role would suit someone able to assume responsibility and leading from the front. It is not a trainee or finance assistant position.

The Person:

We're looking for someone who combines strong technical accounting skills with a practical, hands-on approach. You'll be comfortable working in a fast-paced SME environment and enjoy high visibility.

  • CIMA or ACCA qualification.
  • At least four years post qualifying experience - ideally gained within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
  • Proven experience of producing accurate and timely monthly management accounts.
  • Strong balance sheet reconciliation, budgeting and forecasting experience.
  • Exposure to ERP systems – ideally Syspro
  • A strong understanding of VAT and HMRC compliance requirements.
  • Positive analytical skills, sharp attention to detail, and the ability to manage and develop a small team (of four).
