Company Description Growth Technology, based in Taunton, Somerset, has been formulating and manufacturing high-quality hydroponic nutrients and supplies for over 40 years. In addition to its core hydroponic range, Growth Technology supplies garden centres with “Focus On Plants” products for home gardeners and allotment holders. Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Management Accountant role based in Norton Fitzwarren. The Management Accountant will be responsible for preparing and reviewing monthly management accounts, including financial statements, accruals, prepayments, and variance analysis. The role includes monitoring budgets, forecasting, and providing financial insights to support decision-making across the business. Daily tasks will involve maintaining accurate accounting records, reconciling key balance sheet accounts, and ensuring compliance with internal controls and financial policies. The Management Accountant will collaborate with operational teams, support annual audits, and contribute to continuous improvement in financial reporting and processes.

- Prepare monthly management accounts accurately and to agreed deadlines.
- Maintain and develop cost centre and departmental reporting.
- Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring reconciling items are investigated and resolved promptly.
- Prepare and post accruals, prepayments, depreciation and other month-end journals.
- Support the monthly close process and maintain appropriate month-end schedules and controls.
- Analyse actual performance against budget, forecast and prior periods, providing clear explanations for material variances.
- Support stock accounting and inventory control, including stock reconciliations, valuation, provisions and adjustments, and assist with the investigation and resolution of stock variances.
- Produce meaningful financial and operational analysis for the Head of Finance.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting and cash-flow reporting.
- Support the development of management information, KPIs and Board reporting.
- Review the integrity of information within the accounting system and investigate discrepancies.
- Support stock accounting, inventory reconciliations and related financial controls.
- Assist with VAT returns and other statutory or regulatory finance requirements.
- Support year-end accounts preparation and liaise with external accountants and advisers as required.
- Work collaboratively with Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and other members of the Finance team.
- Develop effective working relationships with colleagues across sales, operations, purchasing, production and other departments.
- Identify opportunities to strengthen financial controls, improve processes and increase the quality and efficiency of financial reporting.
- Support finance and wider business projects, including systems and ERP development and implementation.
- Undertake ad-hoc financial analysis and other duties appropriate to the role.
