About Monarch Foods International
Monarch Foods International is an established international food import and export business trading across the UK and overseas markets. As the business continues to grow, we’re looking for an experienced Accountant to take ownership of the finance function across the UK and international operations. This is a newly created role offering genuine responsibility and the opportunity to work closely with the owner and existing Accounts Clerk, helping to improve processes, reporting and financial controls.
The Role
You’ll take a hands-on approach to overseeing the finance function for Monarch Foods International Ltd and Monarch Foods BV, including:
- Overseeing day-to-day finance across both companies.
- Managing and supporting the existing Accounts Clerk.
- Managing Sterling and foreign currency payments, including EUR and USD transactions.
- Managing the company’s FX requirements.
- Preparing VAT returns and managing payroll.
- Producing monthly management accounts.
- Preparing year-end financial statements and bringing more of the year-end process in-house.
- Managing company filings and statutory requirements.
- Providing clear financial information and management reporting to the owner.
- Supporting external stakeholders including banks, lawyers and credit insurers.
- Reviewing and improving finance processes and procedures.

What We’re Looking For
- Demonstrable experience managing foreign currency transactions, particularly EUR and USD.
- Previous experience as an Accountant, Management Accountant or similar.
- Strong day-to-day accounting and financial administration experience.
- Experience with management accounts, VAT, payroll and year-end accounts.
- Good understanding of statutory requirements and company filings.
- Previous experience working within an import/export, international trading, wholesale or similar business would be beneficial.
- Strong Excel and accounting systems experience.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- The ability to work independently and take ownership.
- A practical, hands-on approach to problem solving.
- Confidence dealing with senior stakeholders and external advisers.
