Candy Kittens Management Accountant

Candy Kittens Management Accountant is responsible for the accounting, reconciliation, and reporting inputs for Candy Kittens (inc Smittens and Treets), Shades, and the group holding companies. You will work hand-in-hand with the Finance Manager, Candy Kittens, to complete all management accounting activities.

Vital parts of this role include:

  • Proactively preparing accounts and recs for an efficient month-end close and report cycle.
  • Working closely with operations, sales, and marketing teams to review and control spend.

Specific goals for the role include:

  • Identifying process efficiency opportunities and ways to automate.
  • Conducting variance analysis to drive insightful decision-making.

You will report to the Head of Finance, Rachel Sarson, to drive performance and growth of Candy Kittens.

What you'll be responsible for...

  • Own the preparation of monthly management accounts and variance analysis to help the business understand what's driving performance.
  • Manage the month-end commercial accruals, working closely with the Sales and Marketing teams to accurately account for promotional activity.
  • Work closely with the Operations team to monitor and control third-party supply costs, including repacking.
  • Support the preparation of VAT returns and packaging tax submissions to ensure we meet our regulatory obligations accurately and on time.
  • Prepare for and actively support financial audits, organizing documentation to ensure a smooth, efficient process with no surprises.
  • Operate efficiently within a robust financial control environment to reduce risk.
  • Proactively identify opportunities to improve processes and develop actionable plans to drive greater efficiency and accuracy across the finance function.

What we're looking for...

Candidates will be expected to show professional progression through hands-on experience in a similar role, with experience of sales into grocery. Candidates will be nearly or recently qualified.

Broad experience of all aspects of management accounting plus reporting is essential. Familiarity with Xero and Unleashed is important.

The successful candidate will be:

  • Be able to maintain accuracy and focus even when under pressure
