Are you an ACA, ACCA, or CIMA qualified accountant with a practice or management accounting background, ready to step into a rewarding, commercially focused role with real responsibility?

For nearly 30 years Vercity has been the UK's leading provider of Asset and Infrastructure projects in the public sector, and an MSA leader in the PFI space with over £30 billion of public sector assets under management.

We're recruiting a Management Accountant to join our team providing financial support across a portfolio of nationwide infrastructure projects. Reporting to the Finance Manager and Financial Controller, the role plays a key part in delivering accurate management accounts across a portfolio of key projects, UK wide.

What you'll be doing

  • Produce accurate monthly management accounts and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Maintain strong financial controls, governance, and compliance across the portfolio.
  • Prepare statutory accounts, tax calculations, VAT returns, and support audits.
  • Lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting activities.
  • Manage financial records, payments, banking, and corporate documentation.
  • Provide clear financial insight and support to stakeholders and project teams.
  • Line manage and develop a Finance Assistant.
  • Drive continuous improvement of finance systems, processes, and controls.
  • Support ad hoc finance projects and business initiatives.

About you

  • ACA, ACCA, or CIMA qualified, ideally with a minimum of 2 years PQE
  • Strong technical accounting and reporting experience with strong systems skills - a strong management accounts background is key
  • Comfortable operating in a commercial environment with high levels of governance
  • Able to communicate and present confidently at all levels
  • Experience in infrastructure, PFI, or asset management is beneficial but not essential — your management accounting experience and personality are!
