Management Accountant – Basildon – £45,000 – £55,000

A well-established and growing manufacturing and distribution business based in Basildon is looking to appoint a Management Accountant to join its finance team.

This is a hands-on role offering the opportunity to work closely with the Financial Controller and wider senior management team, providing accurate financial reporting and commercial insight across the business.

The role:

  • Preparation of monthly management accounts and supporting schedules
  • Full P&L and balance sheet analysis
  • Month-end journals, accruals, and prepayments
  • Balance sheet reconciliations and investigation of variances
  • Monthly management reporting and commentary
  • Budgeting and forecasting
  • Cash flow reporting and analysis
  • Analysis of sales, gross margins, and overheads
  • Stock and inventory reporting, including stock movements and valuation
  • Product/customer profitability analysis
  • Supporting year-end accounts and audit requirements
  • Assisting with financial planning and business forecasting
  • Providing financial insight to operational and commercial teams
  • Identifying opportunities to improve processes, controls, and reporting
  • Supporting the Financial Controller with ad hoc commercial analysis and projects

About you:

  • ACCA/CIMA/ACA part-qualified, finalist, or qualified – or equivalent practical experience
  • Previous management accounting experience within a commercial business
  • Manufacturing, distribution, engineering, logistics, or stock-based business experience would be advantageous
  • Strong Excel skills and comfortable working with large data sets
  • Experience with an ERP/accounting system
  • Good understanding of stock, margins, and cost analysis
  • Commercially minded with the ability to explain financial information to non-finance stakeholders
  • Strong attention to detail and able to work to tight month-end deadlines
  • Someone who enjoys getting into the detail but can also step back and understand the wider commercial picture

The package:

  • £45,000 – £55,000 depending on experience and qualification
  • Monday – Friday, office based in Basildon
  • 25 days holiday + bank holidays
