Management Accountant
An opportunity has arisen to join the NHS Fife Finance Directorate as a Management Accountant. This Band 5 role will provide financial support, analysis, and advice to budget holders and managers across Corporate Services.
The postholder will support effective management of revenue through high-quality financial information, budget monitoring, forecasting, and financial management. The role will contribute to financial balance, value for money, and the effective stewardship of public funds.
The Role
Working within the Financial Management Team and reporting to the Head of Finance - Reporting & Analysis. You will work closely with operational managers, clinicians, project teams, and finance colleagues to support informed decision-making and delivery of organisational objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide financial management and coordination for designated projects, ensuring schemes are appropriately costed and managed within available funding.
- Prepare accurate and timely financial reports.
- Support budget holders to understand financial performance, forecasts, risks, and required corrective action.
- Contribute to financial recovery, efficiency, and sustainability programmes and provide advice at relevant meetings.
About You
- You will have an HND in Accounting or a related subject, or significant demonstrable equivalent experience.
- You will bring relevant experience from a complex organisation, with demonstrable experience in management accounting.
- You will have strong numerical and analytical skills, excellent communication and presentation skills, and the ability to explain complex financial information clearly to finance and non-finance audiences.
- Ability to analyse and interpret complex financial information and make sound recommendations.
- Good organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet reporting deadlines.
- Ability to influence, persuade, and negotiate while building positive working relationships.
- Excellent report-writing skills and a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office and experience of financial reporting systems.
- Motivation, resilience, initiative, and commitment to continuous improvement.
