A company for the curious

Something & Nothing is disrupting the global soda category with a range of award-winning premium sodas made for the modern, conscious consumer. Our drinks are sold across the US, UK and Europe, and can be found in some of the world’s best retailers, hotels, cafes and restaurants.

We're looking for a hands-on Management Accountant to cover a period of maternity leave. This is a broad, ownership-heavy role in a fast-moving, startup environment - you'll be the day-to-day engine of the finance function, keeping our numbers accurate, our reporting sharp, and our cash carefully managed.

You'll thrive here if you're comfortable operating with autonomy, rolling up your sleeves, and moving quickly without losing rigour. You'll work closely with the wider finance and leadership team and have real influence over how we understand and grow the business.

Contract: Fixed-term maternity cover (approximately 12 months)

Location: Fully remote (UK-based)

Reports to: CFO

Start date: Early - Mid November 2026

Salary: £40k-45k per annum, pro rata

How we work: read this first

We are not a traditional company, and this is not a traditional role.

We believe structured hierarchies stifle creativity and curiosity, and both are critical to how this business succeeds. So we do not have one. In place of a formal hierarchy we have an open culture. In practice that means everyone is accountable to the company rather than to a manager. Even though you report to the CFO you will not have a manager. You will have full autonomy and authority to deliver your responsibilities, and decisions get made quickly.

Your role is defined by your responsibilities rather than by a title, and those responsibilities link directly to the vision, purpose and strategic goals of the business. You will be able to see everyone else's responsibilities too, so you can see how the whole thing joins up. No one has a job title, because titles limit the scope of what we might need you to do, and both the world and this business move too fast for that. Roles here evolve.

We set a high standard. When you push boundaries in pursuit of amazing work, everyone messes up sometimes, and it would be weird if we did not. We take risks, we are accountable for our mistakes, and we learn from them. To help everyone improve we give and receive honest feedback, because we see it as a skill everyone benefits from. We build trust by caring about each other, being clear about our values, and being good at what we do. We are curious, so we ask questions and we listen.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

This suits people who want real ownership and dislike being managed. It suits people less well if they want a defined career ladder and a title to go with it. Both are reasonable things to want, and we would rather be clear up front.

Key Responsibilities

  • Month-end & financial reporting — Own the month-end close process end to end, including journals, accruals, prepayments and reconciliations, delivering accurate management accounts to a tight timetable.
  • Contribute to preparation of monthly management accounts (P&L, balance sheet and cashflow)
  • Year End – Preparation of year end accounts in line with statutory and regulatory reporting requirements
  • Financial control — Maintain robust financial controls and reconciliations across the ledgers, ensuring the integrity of the balance sheet.
  • Manage the day-to-day bookkeeping, accounts payable and receivable, and banking within Xero.
  • Cashflow management — Contribute to cashflow forecasting and reporting, monitoring working capital, runway and liquidity, and flagging risks and opportunities early.
  • Manage payment runs, supplier relationships and credit control to keep cash moving efficiently.
  • Business partnering — Support budgeting, forecasting and business partnering, providing the numbers and analysis leadership needs to make decisions.
  • Compliance — Assist with VAT returns and US sales tax returns, payroll inputs and year-end audit preparation, liaising with external accountants and auditors as needed.
  • Process improvement — Continuously improve finance processes, controls and reporting as the business scales.

What we're looking for

  • Qualified or part-qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) or qualified by experience.
  • Proven experience in a startup or high-growth environment, comfortable with ambiguity, pace and wearing multiple hats.
  • Strong, demonstrable knowledge across financial control, financial reporting and cashflow management.
  • Hands-on proficiency with Xero (essential).
  • Advanced Excel skills and confidence handling and interrogating data.
  • Excellent attention to detail, well organised, and able to manage your own workload and deadlines while working remotely.
  • A proactive, commercially-minded communicator who can translate numbers into insight for non-finance colleagues.
