Key Responsibilities

Month-end & Financial Reporting

  • Own the month-end close process end to end, including journals, accruals, prepayments and reconciliations, delivering accurate management accounts to a tight timetable.
  • Contribute to preparation of monthly management accounts (P&L, balance sheet and cashflow)
  • Year End – Preparation of year end accounts in line with statutory and regulatory reporting requirements

Financial Control

  • Maintain robust financial controls and reconciliations across the ledgers, ensuring the integrity of the balance sheet.
  • Manage the day-to-day bookkeeping, accounts payable and receivable, and banking within Xero.

Cashflow Management

  • Contribute to cashflow forecasting and reporting, monitoring working capital, runway and liquidity, and flagging risks and opportunities early.
  • Manage payment runs, supplier relationships and credit control to keep cash moving efficiently.

Business Partnering

  • Support budgeting, forecasting and business partnering, providing the numbers and analysis leadership needs to make decisions.

Compliance

  • Assist with VAT returns and US sales tax returns, payroll inputs and year-end audit preparation, liaising with external accountants and auditors as needed.

Process Improvement

  • Continuously improve finance processes, controls and reporting as the business scales.

What We're Looking For

  • Qualified or part-qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) or qualified by experience.
  • Proven experience in a startup or high-growth environment, comfortable with ambiguity, pace and wearing multiple hats.
  • Strong, demonstrable knowledge across financial control, financial reporting and cashflow management.
  • Hands-on proficiency with Xero (essential).
  • Advanced Excel skills and confidence handling and interrogating data.
  • Excellent attention to detail, well organised, and able to manage your own workload and deadlines while working remotely.
  • A proactive, commercially-minded communicator who can translate numbers into insight for non-finance colleagues.

Nice to Have

  • Experience in FMCG, food & beverage or a physical-product business.
  • Exposure to inventory accounting and multi-channel (DTC + wholesale/retail) reporting, including USA sales tax reporting
  • Familiarity with tools that integrate with Xero (e.g. inventory, expense or payments platforms).
