About the opportunity

Via is partnering with an established healthcare provider looking for a part-time Management Accountant to take ownership of its management accounting and financial reporting. This is a flexible, fully remote role working 15 hours per week. You'll work closely with the Senior Leadership Team, providing clear financial information to support budgeting, forecasting and commercial decision-making.

It's a broad position covering management accounts, budgeting, forecasting, payroll coordination, financial controls, audit and compliance, with responsibility for managing a Finance Coordinator.

What you'll be doing

  • Prepare monthly management accounts
  • Produce profit and loss statements and balance sheet reconciliations
  • Complete journals, accruals, prepayments and other accounting adjustments
  • Analyse financial performance and explain key variances
  • Support annual budgeting and periodic forecasting
  • Work with senior leaders and department managers to monitor performance against budget
  • Identify potential cost savings and areas of financial risk
  • Monitor expenditure and investigate significant variances
  • Produce clear financial information to support business decisions
  • Develop and maintain effective financial controls, systems and accounting procedures
  • Take ownership of finance and accounting policies and recommend improvements
  • Coordinate payroll through a third-party payroll provider
  • Ensure payments to employees, suppliers, HMRC and pension providers are prepared accurately and on time
  • Support contractual and financial data reporting
  • Ensure internal financial controls are followed consistently
  • Support financial, regulatory and internal audits
  • Maintain appropriate GDPR compliance within the Finance function
  • Contribute to anti-money laundering and anti-bribery policies and processes
  • Provide financial and risk information where required for regulatory reporting
  • Work closely with the Senior Leadership Team on financial performance
  • Line manage and support the Finance Coordinator

What we're looking for

  • Around 3–5 years of relevant accounting or financial management experience
  • Strong experience preparing monthly management accounts
  • Experience producing P&L statements and balance sheet reconciliations
  • Confident with journals, accruals, prepayments and other month-end adjustments
  • Experience with budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis
  • Ability to explain financial information clearly to non-finance stakeholders
  • Experience working with senior managers or leadership teams
  • Good understanding of financial controls and accounting processes
  • Strong attention to detail and confidence taking ownership of deadlines
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Comfortable identifying financial risks and potential cost-saving opportunities
  • Previous experience supporting audits
  • Some experience coordinating or overseeing payroll would be useful
  • Previous line management or supervisory experience would be advantageous

Healthcare experience isn't essential. Candidates from other sectors with strong management accounting experience are encouraged to apply.

Qualifications

  • AAT Level 4 or equivalent accounting/financial management experience is required.
  • Candidates studying towards CIMA, ACCA or ICAEW qualifications are particularly encouraged to apply, although being fully qualified isn't essential.
