W&A is partnering with Piramal Pharma Solutions to appoint a Management Accountant to its Grangemouth finance team. This newly created permanent role is well suited to a recently qualified accountant who wants to build broader commercial and operational experience in a growing life sciences manufacturing environment.
Location: Grangemouth
Salary: Circa £50,000
Working arrangements: Hybrid with flexible start/finish times
About Piramal Pharma Solutions
Piramal Pharma Solutions is a contract development and manufacturing organisation supporting pharmaceutical and biotechnology customers and specialising in drugs that are primarily used as targeted cancer treatments, engineered to "hunt out" and destroy cancerous cells while leaving healthy tissue unharmed.
The Grangemouth site is growing and making a real impact and is one of the few end-to-end facilities of its type in Scotland, supporting programmes from early-stage development through to clinical and commercial manufacture.
The Opportunity
This is a new growth role within an expanding local finance team, created to add capacity and strengthen contract-level profitability analysis as the Grangemouth operation scales. You will work closely with operational and commercial stakeholders, helping the business understand performance, identify risks and opportunities, and make better decisions around profitability, cash flow and working capital.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.
The timing is particularly useful for someone early in their qualified career. The current finance environment is transitioning to SAP S/4HANA. As reporting becomes more automated, this role will focus on analysis, contract profitability and business partnering.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and present management information, including month-end performance, variance analysis, gross margin, operating expenditure and inventory.
- Prepare monthly forecasts and support annual budgeting and rolling forecast processes.
- Develop stronger contract profitability analysis across revenue, project costs, overheads, invoicing and commercial performance.
- Partner with operational and commercial stakeholders to identify risks and opportunities and support actions to improve EBITDA and working capital.
- Support inventory accounting, valuation and reconciliation, working with operations, procurement and supply chain colleagues.
- Review customer pricing, debtor ageing, overdue balances and credit exposure.
- Support internal and external audit activity, compliance requirements and internal controls.
What You’ll Bring
- A newly qualified CA, ACA, ACCA or CIMA accountant. Could be perfect for a newly qualified accountant making a first move from practice or equally if you’ve trained in industry.
- Strong financial analysis and Excel skills, with the confidence to explain what sits behind the numbers.
- A practical, hands-on approach and comfort working with journals, detailed accounting and manual processes while the finance environment transitions.
- Strong communication and business partnering skills, with the confidence to work closely with operational and commercial stakeholders.
- Experience in manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, life sciences, contract manufacturing, project/contract accounting or contract profitability would be useful but is not essential.
- SAP experience, particularly S/4HANA exposure, would be advantageous.
