Interim Management Accountant
3–4 Month Interim Contract
£325–£400 per day
Clapham – Hybrid Working
Retail & E-Commerce
We're supporting a fast-growing retail and e-commerce business that is looking to appoint an experienced Management Accountant on an initial 3–4 month contract.
This is a slightly different Management Accountant role. There is BAU accounting to pick up across stock, month end and the balance sheet, but the real focus is on improving how things are done.
The biggest priority will be stock. There is currently a highly manual matching and reconciliation process taking up significant time each week. They want someone who can understand why the process works as it does today, identify the gaps and then help design and implement something considerably more efficient.
The Role
Reporting into the Finance Manager, you'll take ownership of several core accounting areas while also being given the freedom to challenge and improve existing processes.
You'll need to be comfortable with the detail, particularly around stock, purchase orders, landed costs and reconciliations, but equally capable of stepping back, understanding the end-to-end process and coming up with practical improvements.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
