Management Accountant
Location: London (Hybrid – 1 day WFH)
Salary: £38,000 – £45,000 + benefits
Our client, a leading professional services group operating across a diverse range of sectors, is looking for a Management Accountant to join their London finance team.
Reporting directly to the Head of Finance, this is a broad and hands-on role offering exposure across management accounting, month-end reporting, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow, and financial analysis.
Responsibilities
- Prepare monthly management accounts, including profit and loss, balance sheet, and cash flow reporting
- Support the month-end close process, including journals, accruals, prepayments, and balance sheet reconciliations
- Prepare monthly variance analysis and provide commentary on financial performance
- Assist with budgeting and forecasting processes across the group
- Monitor cash flow and support the preparation of short- and medium-term cash flow forecasts
- Prepare and review management information for senior stakeholders
- Support the preparation and submission of VAT returns
- Assist with payroll-related accounting and reconciliations
- Maintain accurate financial records and ensure appropriate controls are followed
- Support accounts payable and accounts receivable processes where required
- Liaise with internal stakeholders to understand financial performance and resolve finance queries
- Assist with year-end reporting and provide information to external auditors and advisers
- Support the Head of Finance with ad hoc financial analysis, reporting, and wider finance projects
- Identify opportunities to improve reporting, controls, and finance processes across the business
- Support the development and implementation of improved financial systems and reporting tools

Role Requirements

- Part-qualified ACCA, CIMA, ACA, or equivalent would be advantageous
- Previous experience in a Management Accountant, Assistant Management Accountant, or similar accounting role
- Strong month-end and management accounting experience
- Experience preparing journals, accruals, prepayments, and balance sheet reconciliations
- Exposure to budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
- Good understanding of cash flow and financial reporting
- Experience with VAT and transactional finance would be beneficial
- Strong Excel skills and confidence working with accounting systems
- Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
- Excellent analytical, organisational, and communication skills
- Proactive approach with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
- Comfortable working within a fast-paced, commercial environment
