Management Accountant
£35,000 - £40,000 (Depending on Experience)
Remote - (One day a week in London area)
Full time - (Monday to Friday)

The role:
The Management Accountant will support the Financial Controller in delivering accurate management accounts, robust balance sheet control, cash reporting and compliance support across their holding companies. The role will take ownership of key month-end activities, reconciliations and reporting schedules, ensuring finance outputs are accurate, well-supported and aligned with Group standards.
Responsibilities:
Management accounts and month-end:
- Take ownership of AP/AR and Bank reconciliation for one of the holding companies
- Prepare monthly management accounts for holding companies.
- Prepare and post journals, including payroll, accruals, prepayments, depreciation, amortisation and financing entries.
- Review work completed by the Finance Assistant and ensure postings are accurate and supported.
- Identify key movements, missing transactions, risks and corrective actions.
- Maintain clear support for material balances, estimates and judgements.

Balance sheet control:
- Own balance sheet reconciliations for the relevant entities.
- Reconcile accounts payable, accounts receivable, intercompany and bank balances to the trial balance.
- Maintain fixed asset registers and post depreciation.
- Review accruals and prepayments regularly to ensure balances remain accurate and relevant.
- Escalate aged, unusual or unreconciled balances with proposed actions.
Intercompany and group charges:
- Raise and record intercompany invoices accurately.
- Reconcile intercompany balances across holding companies and other Group entities.
- Support the allocation and recharge of central costs, audit fees, finance costs and other shared costs.
- Maintain supporting schedules for intercompany balances, recharges and settlements.
Reporting, cash flow and forecasting:
- Prepare cash flow updates and supporting analysis.
- Support monthly reporting, KPI schedules, MI packs and Board pack inputs.
- Support forecasts, forecast updates and annual budgets.
- Update staff cost forecasts for salary changes, starters, leavers and other movements.
- Provide analysis on financial performance, working capital and cost trends.
VAT, PSA and compliance:
- Prepare and reconcile VAT returns and supporting schedules.
- Reconcile VAT control accounts to the trial balance.
- Support the annual PSA return process and maintain appropriate documentation.
- Support year-end audit preparation, including schedules, reconciliations and audit evidence.
- Ensure compliance with Group finance policies, approval processes and documentation standards.

Processes and controls:
- Create and maintain documentation for key financial processes and controls.
- Support improvements to month-end processes, reconciliations and reporting outputs.
- Help ensure consistent application of Group finance standards across the relevant entities.
- Support the Financial Controller with ad hoc analysis, data preparation and control improvement work.
Skills and experience:
- Experience in a management accounting role, ideally in a multi-entity or services-based business.
- Strong understanding of month-end close, balance sheet reconciliations, intercompany accounting and management reporting.
- Good understanding of VAT, audit support and finance controls.
- Strong Excel skills and ability to work with financial data accurately.
- Clear communicator with the ability to work effectively with Finance and non-Finance stakeholders.
- Proactive, organised and comfortable taking ownership in a growing finance function.
- Experience using Certinia, FinancialForce or a similar finance system would be beneficial.
Qualifications:
- Part-qualified or qualified ACCA, CIMA or equivalent.
- Relevant finance experience in management accounts, reconciliations or financial reporting.
