Management Accountant

Location: Lewisham, South London (Hybrid Working)
Salary: £50,000 + Bonus
Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent

About the Company

We are a well-established and growing hardware business based in the London Borough of Lewisham, supplying high-quality products to customers across the UK. With a strong reputation within our sector and ambitious growth plans, we are looking for an experienced Management Accountant to join our finance team and play a key role in supporting business performance.

This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded finance professional who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and has experience managing inventory accounting within a product-based business.

The Role

Reporting to the Financial Controller, the Management Accountant will be responsible for producing accurate and timely management accounts, delivering insightful financial analysis, and supporting operational decision-making. The successful candidate will have previous experience within a stock-holding business and a strong understanding of inventory accounting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare monthly management accounts, including P&L, balance sheet and cash flow reporting
  • Complete month-end close processes and balance sheet reconciliations
  • Analyse financial performance and provide meaningful commentary to senior management
  • Manage and report on inventory movements, valuations, stock provisions and gross margins
  • Monitor stock controls and work closely with operational teams to improve inventory accuracy
  • Support budgeting, forecasting and financial planning activities
  • Assist with cash flow management and working capital reporting
  • Produce KPIs and business performance reports
  • Support year-end audit requirements and statutory reporting
  • Identify and implement process improvements across finance and reporting functions
  • Provide ad hoc financial analysis to support strategic decision-making

About You

Essential

  • Previous experience in a Management Accountant role
  • Qualified, Part-Qualified or Qualified by Experience (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
  • Strong inventory accounting and stock management experience
  • Experience working within a product-based, manufacturing, wholesale, distribution or hardware environment
  • Excellent Excel skills and strong analytical ability
  • Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
  • Ability to communicate financial information to non-finance stakeholders

Desirable

  • Experience using ERP systems
  • Exposure to NetSuite would be highly advantageous, though not essential
  • Experience improving financial processes and controls
  • Background within wholesale, hardware, retail or distribution businesses
