About the Role
Situated at Ocean Village, The Yacht Club is the home to MDL’s central services teams. We are seeking a Management Accounts Assistant to support the Senior Management Accountant with the month-end process, production and delivery of the Business Information & Management Accounts Pack (BIMAP), and effective management of the balance sheet.
You will be organised, accurate, and confident working with financial information, with a collaborative approach and a commitment to providing a responsive service to colleagues across the business. This is a permanent position working 37 and a half hours per week, Monday to Friday between the hours of 9am to 5.30pm, supporting the Finance team and marina operations. The successful applicant will be required to attend various training courses in the initial period of employment as part of a full induction process.
Key Responsibilities
The role will include but not limited to:
- Supporting the production and delivery of the month-end Business Information and Management Accounts Pack (BIMAP), including profit and loss, balance sheet, cash flow, and variance analysis.
- Completing monthly balance sheet reconciliations and ensuring financial records are accurate and complete.
- Managing accruals and prepayments, including preparing and posting journals.
- Assisting the Senior Management Accountant with the annual budget and periodic forecasting.
- Assisting with the preparation of VAT returns.
- Completing and submitting regular Office for National Statistics returns and other ad hoc regulatory returns.
- Submitting RDCO and calculating the Fuel Duty.
- Assisting with the year-end audit process.
- Providing financial support and analysis to other departments, encouraging effective cost monitoring and constructive challenge across the business.

Key Requirements
The key requirements for this role are but not limited to:
- Previous experience in an accounts, finance, or management accounting support role.
- A good understanding of month-end accounting processes, including journals, accruals, prepayments, and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Strong numerical and analytical skills, with excellent attention to detail and a commitment to timely, accurate financial reporting.
- Good IT skills, including confidence using Microsoft Excel and finance or accounting systems.
- Organised and able to manage competing priorities, meet reporting and regulatory deadlines, and maintain accurate financial records.
- Able to communicate financial information clearly and build strong professional relationships with Finance colleagues and the wider business.
- A proactive, flexible, and collaborative approach, with the confidence to support cost monitoring and constructively challenge where appropriate.
- An understanding of financial compliance, confidentiality, company policies, and quality management procedures.
