Job Title: Manager, Accounting

Business Unit: Corporate – Littlehampton

Reports To: Senior Director, Regional Controller

RESPONSIBILITIES

People / Process Management

  • Lead, manage, coach and develop a team (inc. recruitment, performance reviews/management, career progression).
  • Manage outsourced service providers (internal and external), ensure the delivery is timely, to a high standard and within budget.
  • Manage the periodic process delivering a timely and high quality product.

Accounting

  • Ensure the financial statements and analysis are accurate monthly and completed in-line with Corporate’s timetable / guidelines (US GAAP).
  • Understand and appropriately adopt all company policies and US GAAP practices.
  • Complete / contribute towards high quality, accurate and detailed balance sheet reconciliations monthly, and flux analysis quarterly, all in-line with Corporate’s timetable / guidelines.
  • Review / approve journals for the team.
  • Manage the burden, CIP and IC on operating spend activities.
  • Produce cost centre reporting, relating to the department, for the group Chief Accounting Officer.
  • Primary interface for internal audits, ensuring compliance with AE’s global standards and policies. Own the timely and efficient resolution of queries.
  • Support the Senior Director & Senior Accounting Manager(s):
    • Effective management of the regional department.
    • Proactive management of any change impacting the accounting group.
    • Ad-hoc tasks.

Treasury & Transactional Accounting

  • Effectively manage cash through accurate forecasting, currency holdings.
  • Approve supplier payments, and manage the payroll payment process.
  • Retain a clean and current position on the customer, vendor and GRIR accounts.
  • Ensure staff expense claims are processed timely and challenge any which aren’t aligned with Corporate / regional policy. Ensure any staff advances remain current.
  • Effectively manage the relationship with the internal Asia based Shared Service Centre maximising their capabilities and process efficiency.

Other

  • Enforce Corporate and local policies, procedures and controls (inc. full DoA compliance).
  • Review / enhance systems as required to deliver quality and timely actual results.
  • Lead the co-ordination of process alignment across Europe / the globe.
  • Lead the continued development of a more efficient, effective, consistent and controlled European finance function.
  • Support the Senior Director and Corporate Finance team with initiatives as required.
  • Represent the Mezzanine floor on safety and 5S matters.
  • Represent the Finance department in the site management meetings.

Work Environment

  • Works in a standard office environment utilising standard office equipment.
  • Travel, both domestic and international, will be required.
  • Significant amount of communication with AE’s Corporate and Business Unit Finance teams.
  • Extended hours will be necessary from time to time in meeting deadlines.

Experience

  • 5 years+ experience in accounting / finance.
  • Experience of managing teams and outsourced service providers.
  • International / European exposure.
  • Working within a US led multi-national group.
  • Working within a manufacturing organisation is preferable.
  • 5 years+ of SAP experience.

Qualifications

Essential:

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting and Finance, Business Administration or similar.

Desirable:

  • Masters degree in Finance, Business Administration or similar
