The Role
Our client is looking for a qualified Client Accounts Manager to take ownership of a varied portfolio of clients and play a central role in the day-to-day running of the accounts function. Reporting directly to the partners, you will manage the delivery of accounts and compliance work, review the work of the team and act as the main point of contact for a mix of owner-managed and high-growth businesses.
This is a hands-on, client-facing role in a firm small enough that your contribution is visible from day one. You will work with clients ranging from start-ups to multi-million pound businesses, get close to advisory work alongside the partners, and help develop the junior members of the team. It is an ideal move for a qualified accountant who wants genuine portfolio ownership and a clear route to progression without the long hours of a larger practice.

Key Responsibilities
Client Portfolio & Delivery
- Manage a portfolio of clients, overseeing the delivery of statutory accounts, corporation tax and VAT returns
- Review accounts and compliance work prepared by the team to a high technical standard
- Prepare and review management accounts and support clients with regular financial reporting
- Plan and prioritise workloads to ensure deadlines are met across the portfolio
- Ensure work complies with FRS 102, FRS 105 and relevant regulatory requirements
Client Relationships
- Act as the day-to-day point of contact for clients, building strong long-term relationships
- Identify tax planning and advisory opportunities and refer them to the partners
- Support clients with cloud accounting systems, including setup and training
Team & Firm
- Supervise, coach and develop trainees and associates, including those studying for professional exams
- Coordinate with the tax team to provide a joined-up service to clients
- Contribute to process improvements and the firm's use of technology
What You'll Need
Essential:
- Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or equivalent)
- Post-qualification experience within an accountancy practice
- Strong technical knowledge of accounts preparation, FRS 102 and FRS 105
- Experience managing a client portfolio and reviewing the work of others
- Working knowledge of corporation tax and VAT compliance

Desirable:
- Experience with cloud accounting platforms such as Xero or QuickBooks
- Exposure to owner-managed, high-growth or investor-backed businesses
- Experience supervising or training junior staff
- An interest in tax and ad hoc advisory work
