I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

In this role you’ll:

  • Support the management and oversight of end-to-end investment operations for Private Credit, including transaction lifecycle management and post-trade oversight.
  • Oversee transaction & trade services, including execution support, review of key legal documentation, transaction administration and investment restriction monitoring with a risk-centric approach.
  • Contribute to product launches and subsequent closings, helping design operating models, establish operational infrastructure and support equalisation processes.
  • Provide valuation and performance oversight, including NAV review support, hard-to-value asset inputs, income reconciliations, and calculations such as ECL/amortisation and carry/waterfalls where applicable.
  • Support liquidity and treasury activities, including cash flow forecasting (calls/distributions), facility oversight (credit/overdraft), and hedging/FX operational processes.
  • Manage stakeholders and service providers (administrators, AIFMs/managers and other vendors), including SLA oversight, due diligence/RFP support, investor and portfolio reporting contributions, and escalation of issues to resolution.

To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:

  • Proven experience in investment operations within alternatives, ideally with strong exposure to Private Credit / Direct Lending and loan-style instruments (e.g., revolving credit, venture debt, infrastructure debt, trade finance, sub-lines).
  • Strong understanding of the operational control environment: investment restrictions monitoring, regulatory and compliance considerations, and operational risk management.
  • Experience with NAV oversight, valuations and performance support, including reconciliations and working effectively with fund administrators and valuation providers.
  • Track record of managing multiple stakeholders across functions (Investment, Product, Legal, Compliance, Risk & Control, IT) and external service providers; confident in SLA/KPI management and escalation.
  • Comfortable contributing to change delivery (systems implementation, data governance, process improvement) with a structured, delivery-focused approach.
  • Strong communication, organisation and problem-solving skills; ability to coach junior colleagues and collaborate across jurisdictions and time zones.
