Manager, Assessment

As a Manager, Assessment, you will be responsible for the successful delivery of a portfolio of high-stakes qualifications. You'll combine deep assessment expertise with strong operational leadership to ensure assessments are delivered to the highest standards of quality, compliance, and customer service.

You'll play a key role in maintaining qualification standards, leading subject teams, working closely with senior examining teams, and ensuring trusted outcomes for learners across the UK and internationally.

Key Areas of Responsibility

Assessment Delivery & Standards

  • Lead the delivery of a portfolio of qualifications, ensuring assessment activity is delivered to time, quality, and budget.
  • Oversee key stages of the assessment lifecycle, maintain standards, and ensure assessment outcomes remain valid, reliable, and defensible.

Technical Assessment Expertise

  • Act as the assessment expert for your subject area, providing leadership and advice on assessment approaches, standards, and quality.
  • Work closely with internal teams and assessment associates to ensure assessment materials remain fit for purpose and aligned to evolving educational and regulatory requirements.

Risk, Quality & Compliance

  • Identify and manage risks associated with assessment delivery, ensuring appropriate controls, governance, and contingency arrangements are in place.
  • Play a key role in safeguarding assessment quality, maintaining regulatory compliance, and protecting confidence in qualification outcomes.

Leadership & Team Development

  • Lead and develop a subject team, creating a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Support colleagues to deliver exceptional outcomes while building capability for the future.

Customer & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Build strong relationships with centres, subject experts, assessment associates, and colleagues across Pearson.
  • Act as the voice of the customer while balancing learner needs, assessment standards, and regulatory expectations.

Continuous Improvement & Insight

  • Use performance data, customer feedback, and assessment insight to identify opportunities for improvement, drive innovation, and enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of assessment delivery.

About You

We're looking for someone who can demonstrate:

  • Experience working within assessment, awarding, qualifications, or another regulated environment
  • Strong understanding of assessment principles, standards, and quality assurance
  • Experience leading teams and developing people
  • The ability to manage operational delivery, risk, and competing priorities
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
  • A commitment to delivering excellent outcomes for learners and customers
