Manager - Data Science & AI - Data & AI

We are seeking high-performing individuals with a proven track record delivering data science, machine learning or AI solutions to join our team. This role can be based in either our Belfast or Derry/Londonderry office and offers the opportunity to work across assurance, consulting, law, strategy, tax and transactions.
The opportunity
Our Data & AI team focuses on helping clients unlock value from their information assets by embedding innovative data and AI solutions in existing business areas. Data & AI offers challenging work, career development and great job satisfaction.
Our Data Science and AI capability helps clients use data to improve decisions, products and services. As a Manager, you will lead multidisciplinary teams through the solution lifecycle, ensuring that analytical and AI solutions are useful, trusted and fit for purpose.
Your key responsibilities
Client Responsibilities
The nature of this role means no two projects will be the same. You’ll need to think on your feet and challenge existing practices to develop solutions for complex problems. You’ll also collaborate with colleagues across multiple service lines, build relationships and identify opportunities for our clients to benefit from our expertise in other areas. Occasional travel may be necessary as you will be meeting with key clients, some of whom are the most respected in their fields.
- Lead AI & Machine learning engagements from problem definition through development and implementation, ensuring that each solution addresses a clear business need.
- Work with senior client stakeholders to turn complex challenges into practical analytical use cases and explain the proposed approach in clear business language.
- Provide technical direction across machine learning and generative AI, helping teams build solutions that are scalable, robust and maintainable.
- Work with multidisciplinary teams to move solutions from experimentation into production, with appropriate consideration of security and responsible AI.
- Manage delivery plans, budgets, resources and risks while maintaining strong client relationships and high-quality outcomes.
- Drawing on your knowledge and experience, you’ll create innovative insights which will add value to both our clients and to the broader society.
- Champion operational efficiency improvements on projects and internal initiatives and will consistently drive projects to completion, and ensure the work is of high quality.

Internal Responsibilities
- Understand all our consulting service offerings and actively identify opportunities to better serve clients and be able to build meaningful external relationships with our clients and internal relationships across service lines.
- Contribute to the development of the wider Data & AI team’s future by building our brand, attending relevant events, collaborating with other internal teams, and producing thought leadership.
- Actively establish, maintain, and strengthen internal and external relationships. With guidance from partners, directors, and other senior managers, you’ll identify potential business opportunities for EY to incubate or drive new solutions and services.
- Lead Technology Consulting engagements, managing team performance and commercials including conducting performance reviews and contributing to performance feedback for all levels of staff and managing engagement billings, and estimates to complete.
- Understand, follow and lead staff in workplace policies and procedures
People responsibilities (applicable to Manager only)
- Lead and coach colleagues, create a positive learning culture and contribute to the continued growth of our Belfast capability.
- Adapting your leadership style to fit team, client, and cultural needs, they will look to you to anticipate and identify risks and escalate issues as appropriate.
Skills and attributes for success
To do this role effectively, we are looking for people with knowledge and experience in the following areas:
To qualify for the role you must have
- A completed degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent professional experience.
- Significant experience delivering data science, machine learning or AI solutions.
- Proven experience leading complex projects and multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong knowledge of the analytical lifecycle and practical proficiency in Python and SQL.
- Experience with cloud-based data and AI services and moving solutions into production.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts clearly.
- Experience coaching and developing others, together with the energy to support the growth of the team.
The following will be an advantage
- Experience implementing Responsible AI, AI Governance, Model Risk Management, or AI assurance frameworks.
- Experience deploying AI and machine learning solutions using MLOps, CI/CD, and production monitoring practices.
- Experience delivering AI solutions within regulated industries such as Financial Services, Government, Life Sciences, or Utilities.
- Experience contributing to business development activities, thought leadership, client proposals, or market-facing initiatives.
