Agency:

Initiative

Job Function:

Media

Job Subfunction:

Media Planning and Buying

Job Description:

As Manager, Planner, you are responsible for owning the client's media planning and buying. This will involve audience research and mining for insights, to campaign ideation and right the way through to building a channel plan to bring your ideas to life. And finally activating the plan following industry best practices and standards.

With support from an Executive and clear direction from your line manager, you will take the strategic imperatives and communications idea and identify appropriate communications solutions to client problems.

A core responsibility of the role is to ensure that Initiative’s suite of tools and data sources are fully utilized and that these solid, data driven fundamentals underpin all our work, so an interest in data and planning tools is required to thrive in this position. Our tool suite has bespoke data for health-based campaigns such as with HCPs.

In this role, the asks will be varied. There will be certain campaigns with which you will be given full responsibility for the process and output, others where you will support the Associate Director or Director and some where you will act as hands-off support for more junior members of the team and oversee the work that they produce. However, there are some common themes that run through all of these; the quality of the work must be high, and we will support you in making sure you are meeting these standards and growing your skill set in doing so.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
